I am very excited and humbled to be the president of our 22,000-member Alumni Association for the coming year. I’m not sure how I got here, but I guess it started with wanting to get involved with the alma mater that provided me so much. After I graduated in 1985 I sort of drifted away from Bellarmine, focusing on family and career. But about eight years ago I was invited to an alumni event, and I quickly recognized what I was missing.
Bellarmine University is not just part of my past; it’s part of my present. Having alumni who are actively engaged with the university not only helps Bellarmine but also provides countless benefits to each of us. Your connection with Bellarmine can be—and hopefully will be—a lifelong one. The Alumni Association and university provide dozens of opportunities annually to get involved, such as networking, community service, professional development, mentoring students, continuing education and in some cases, just keeping up with old friends. Check out the Alumni Knight Network on the Bellarmine website for more insights about how to get engaged.
Bellarmine is in a transitional period right now as we search for our next president. Looking back, we have much to be proud of under Dr. McGowan’s leadership, but I am very excited for the future, knowing that the Vision he established will go on. I hope you will join me in making that Vision a reality. Remember, your relationship with Bellarmine University did not end when you walked across that stage at graduation—that was only the beginning.
